The Department of Imaginary Affairs is seeking volunteer translators to help with The Stories of Us pilot project.

The Stories of Us will create a library of stories told by newcomers to Canada. The stories will be told in both the native language and translated into varying levels of English comprehension.

As a DIA translator, you will be fluent in writing and reading both English and another language. We are creating a database of volunteers who speak many languages. When we host a workshop with a community, we will look to our DIA translators first to find someone who can be of assistance in translating the stories from whichever language will be part of the workshop.

We anticipate the amount of time required to translate a story to be between 5 and 10 hours.

As we pilot this project, we are open to your suggestions on how to better facilitate the translating of the stories.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please fill out our DIA Translator form and we’ll be in touch. We look forward to working with you!
