Language Translator Community

At the Department of Imaginary Affairs, we aim to make our materials accessible in as many languages as possible.

While working on The Stories of Us, the first and only English-learning library in Canada, told entirely by Newcomers for Newcomers. We relied heavily on the generosity of volunteer language translators so that each book could be shared in English as well as the author’s home language if they chose to.

This work has made a huge impact on the project, as well as on us as an organization.

In 2022, we started a Language Translator Community to continue to support us in our goals to make our programming accessible in multiple languages, both in writing and spoken.
